One of the most rewarding things we did on our trip to Thailand was to take a one-day Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai. This cost us approximately $30 AUD, and was worth every penny. Hell, probably the cookbook they gave us alone was worth the money. That, and coming to understand that tamarind is both excellent and a major component of much of Thai cooking. If it doesn’t taste right, it probably needs more tamarind, oyster or fish sauce, lime, or garlic. Add bean sprouts if you’re bored.
The above picture was of the ingredients we were given to learn to made Pad Thai, which is a guilty pleasure of mine. Especially the peanuts at the end. 🙂
