Lucky Lucy

It cannot be a surprise to many of you that I am animal obsessed. Well, I am lucky enough to have a girlfriend who works for the RSPCA, and this last weekend she brought me a baby to foster.

This little girl is named Lucy. She’s three and her Mum (her owner) is in a refuge right now, because she is homeless. Lucy has a lot of behavioural problems – she’s so shy and scared of people that until last week, she was biting everyone who approached her. However, she was lucky in that everyone at the RSPCA understood she was only scared, and undertook to make her feel safe.

As part of that, she came and stayed with my flatmates and I for the weekend. In that time, she went from being too scared to approach me for a piece of treat, to learning to sit, and cuddling on the couch. She particularly likes climbing on the back of the couch so she can see everyone in the room. We are hoping that if her owner ends up surrendering her to the RSPCA, we will be able to change her behaviour enough for her to be put up for adoption.
